Product/Service: Fire Alarm Installation
Customer: FWD-IP Ltd.
Location: Witchford
Date: June 2024
We recently met with a new customer, FWD-IP Ltd, to discuss upgrading their outdated fire alarm system at their Witchford premises.
The client’s previous system had been in place for over 10 years, which inadvertently put their warehouses at risk. It is expected that 30% of fire alarms and smoke detectors that are over 10 years old will fail, with the risk increasing every year. Therefore, it is recommended to replace these at the 10-year mark to maximise safety and cost-effectiveness.
To address this issue, our engineers upgraded the existing fire alarm system to a new Kentec panel and installed additional Apollo smoke detectors in areas of the warehouse where detection was lacking. Once the installation was complete, we provided the client with a comprehensive demonstration of the new system, which they were very pleased with.
Our collaboration with FWD-IP Ltd also included carrying out fire-stopping works. We use fire-stopping techniques such as fire curtains and fire-rated materials to prevent the spread of fire in the building during an emergency. Additionally, we conducted a 3-hour emergency lighting test to ensure that the emergency lighting system would remain operational for at least 3 hours after a power failure. Some lights did not pass the test, so we provided FWD-IP Ltd with a comprehensive quote for fixing the malfunctioning system.
FWD-IP Ltd was very pleased with the skill and professionalism of our engineers and delighted with the results. We will be visiting them again in December to carry out the first 6-month fire alarm service and ensure that everything is in full working order.
