A tailored solution for the modern stadium requirement at Ipswich Town Football Club to improve fire safety.
Client Background:
Ipswich Town Football Club is one of England’s oldest football clubs. Internal building works at their stadium facilities called for a comprehensive fire doors upgrade. The project focused on the Sir Alf Ramsey Bar and other operational areas throughout the ground.
The Challenge:
After undergoing extensive internal refurbishment, Ipswich Town required fire safety products that not only meet strict safety regulations but also fall in line with the club branding. The Sir Alf Ramsey Bar needed a way to create flexible space divisions. Elsewhere, fire doors were required in the ticket office, the bar on the lower concourse and toilet facilities to ensure compliance, with the aesthetic of the stadium.
Key requirements included:
– Fire doors designed with colours and identity of Ipswich Town.
– Sir Alf Ramsey Bar can be divided to the capacity required.
– All install’s access is controlled in unison.
– Total Compliance with the Fire Safety Regulations
– Professional certification and documentation.

A custom job was commissioned on nine door sets to be sprayed in Ipswich Town colours, ensuring brand cohesiveness throughout. Colour-matched architraves, frames and doorstops created a unified look throughout.
The Sir Alf Ramsey Bar installation enabled the venue to split the space in different areas depending on the need. That ensured operational flexibility for events/functions.
The main bar area had a new partly glazed door for the ticket office, door for the lower concourse bar space and 5 toilet doors fitted to comply with fire safety regulations.
All doors will have fitted suited cylinders to enable the facility management to operate all fire doors with one key.
The strategy implemented by Prestige Fire Safety did not disturb the club’s activities during the football season. The installation process was scheduled carefully around match days and events.
Prestige Fire Safety has recorded every fire door installation by our One Trace software system to allow 100% documentation and traceability for the compliance management process. With this digital record-keeping, the club can see all their assets related to fire safety.
The project was completed on time, with improvements made to fire safety without impacting the look of the stadium. All installations were certified through IFC (Independent Fire Certification, which reflects conformance to the regulations in force on fire safety.
The custom spray-coated doors serve as safety to the buildings that also incorporate the brand’s colour scheme. Thus showing how fire solutions can improve a building’s aesthetics.
